Join the K12 Security Information eXchange (K12 SIX) and ManagedMethods for an informational webinar on the essential K-12 cybersecurity protections that every school district should prioritize for implementation.
There is no shortage of advice available to school district IT staff on how to better secure student data and other valuable IT assets from cybersecurity threats like ransomware and phishing attacks. Yet, too much of that advice is not grounded in the unique context of K-12, the reality of school district IT operations, or K-12 capacity and resource constraints. In an environment where K-12 cybersecurity incidents are growing both more frequent and severe, it is vitally important that school systems identify and take common sense, cost-effective steps to reduce the cyber risks facing their school communities.
In this webinar, K12 SIX Director Doug Levin will provide an overview of the benefits – and pros and cons – of adopting national cybersecurity frameworks (like the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, the CIS Controls, and the CISA Cross-Sector Cybersecurity Performance Goals) and highlight the key features of the K12 SIX Essential Cybersecurity Protections, which were designed by practicing K-12 IT professionals for K-12 IT professionals.
The presentation will conclude with an overview of practical, free K12 SIX tools available to support the implementation of the K12 SIX Essential Cybersecurity Protections, including a private, customized school district self-assessment, new cybersecurity plan development resource, and cyber incident runbook.
This webinar is sponsored by ManagedMethods – Managed Methods makes securing data and detecting student safety signals in Google, Microsoft 365, and Zoom easy and affordable for district technology teams
